Today the Waterford Cathedral Choir sang for 12 mass in Tramore for the second year, to a very large congregation who helped with the singing of the famous opening hymn, 'How great thou art'. A beautiful rendition of 'Panis angelicus' was given by Ursula Kenny, Carol McCarthy, Valerie Leahy, John McManus and Dominic McGorian for the Offertory. The full choir sang 'Dona nobis' for Holy Communion followed by Ursula and Carol singing 'Pie Jesu'. And finally as an exit the choir and congregation joined in with the chorus as Dominic McGorian sang 'Jerusalem'. An appreciative and heartfelt applause followed with very positive comments. Well done and thankyou to everybody with extra thanks to our guests, Dominic and Valerie!

On the 25th and 26th of January 2014 a twinning of Waterford's two Cathedrals took place. Matins were held in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Latin as it would have been in 1893. Fr. Slattery was the Priest for the occasion and the psalms were also sung in Latin by John McManus, cathedral cantor. Many members of the Georgian Society were present.

Recently we had an historical visit by President Higgins and his wife Sabina to the Cathedral. They were presented with a gift and introduced to everybody. And Julian Walton delivered a most interesting speech on the history of the cathedral. This was the first ever visit of an Irish President so well worth noting.

Easter Sunday was indeed a joyous occasion when The Cathedral Choir had the pleasue of singing 'Jerusalem' with one of Ireland's Three Tenors, Dominic McGorian. A  packed congregation joined in and gave a huge round of applause aswell as a standing ovation at the end of Mass. Many positive comments were made and seemingly it was the first time in years since 'Jerusalem' was sung in the Cathedral. A beautiful rendition of 'Panis Angelicus' was also given by Dominic McGorian and Ruth Gahan(Soprano) during the Offertory.
